Spontaneous Floral Expressions Retreat

April 15th-18th 2027

Mixed Media • Intuition • Creative Play • Connection • Renewal

Step away from the demands of everyday life and immerse yourself in a weekend of creativity, connection, and artistic discovery.

The Spontaneous Flower Arrangements Retreat is an invitation to slow down, explore, and reconnect with your natural creativity through the joyful process of mixed media floral art. Whether you are an experienced artist or simply curious about trying something new, you'll find a welcoming and supportive environment where perfection is not the goal—curiosity, expression, and discovery are.

Throughout the retreat, you'll learn how to create vibrant, layered floral compositions using a wide variety of materials including watercolor, acrylic paint, ink, pastels, crayons, collage elements, markers, pencils, and more. Through demonstrations, guided exercises, observational sketching, and plenty of independent studio time, you'll gain confidence in trusting your instincts, embracing experimentation, and developing your own unique artistic voice.

Designed with spaciousness in mind, this retreat offers a gentle rhythm that balances learning, creating, and rest. Participants are encouraged to move at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully engage with the creative process. You're welcome to linger over a project that inspires you, take a quiet break on the porch, enjoy lunch while overlooking the flowers and birds, or simply pause to soak in the beauty of the surrounding landscape. There is no pressure to keep up or produce a certain amount of work. This is your retreat experience, and you are invited to participate in a way that best supports your creativity and well-being.

In addition to mixed media painting, we'll spend time learning simple sketching techniques inspired by live flower arrangements and the natural world around us. These observational practices help strengthen artistic skills while cultivating the art of slowing down, noticing details, and finding inspiration in everyday beauty.

Each participant will receive a sketch journal and sketch pen to take home, providing a place to continue collecting ideas, practicing new skills, and nurturing their creative journey long after the retreat has ended.

Come as you are—with curiosity, a willingness to explore, and a desire to discover what can bloom when creativity is given time, space, and attention.

Throughout our time together, we will explore:

  • Mixed media techniques for creating rich layers, texture, and visual interest

  • Floral composition and design principles

  • Color exploration and expressive mark-making

  • Basic sketching techniques

  • Creative problem-solving and moving through artistic uncertainty

  • Ways to cultivate spontaneity, curiosity, and confidence in the creative process

This retreat is designed with spaciousness in mind. Alongside instruction and hands-on creating, there will be time for reflection, connection with fellow participants, and the freedom to follow your own creative discoveries.
